Ring shaped lateral ventricular nodule

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Headaches.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Small nodules in the right lateral ventricle frontal horn. With a target appearance. No convincing contrast enhancement or diffusion restriction. These nodules are intermediate intensity on T1 and T2-weighted imaging. Otherwise, no intracranial mass, hemorrhage or collection. The ventricles and sulci are age-appropriate. No regions of abnormal parenchymal signal, contrast enhancement or diffusion restriction.

Case Discussion

No cause for the patient's presentation. Small right lateral ventricle frontal horn nodules are entirely consistent with ring-shaped lateral ventricular nodules (RSLVN), which may or may not be a subset of subependymomas (which would otherwise be the differential). Either way, they are considered entirely incidental.
