Slipped on ice. Ankle injury and with pain. Unable to weightbear.
Patient Data
Complex distal metaphyseal fracture with at least two components. There is a displaced oblique fracture extending to the metaphysis with widening of the physis on the lateral view. On the frontal radiograph, this is seen extending obliquely towards the syndesmosis (which appears intact). Associated distal fibular fracture.
In cast. Stable position of distal tibial and fibular fractures. No proximal fibular fracture.
Salter-Harris II fracture of the distal tibia with widening of the physis anteriorly and laterally. Associated non-displaced distal fibular diaphyseal fracture.
Case Discussion
Salter-Harris II fractures of the distal tibia may be associated with epiphyseal extension in Triplane fractures. There is no such extension here.
