Presentation

Assess the left border of the Caeserean section 8 years ago) incision for hernias or chronic suture granuloma?

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Focused ultrasound of the palpable lump indicated by the patient to the left of the scar site .

1.5cm mixed echo focal area in the superficial subcutaneous tissues.  No internal vascularity.

No evidence of hernia in this region.

16G core biopsy of the subcutaneous mass.

Histology Report

Clinical Details: C section 2013.

Scar endometriosis or other pathology?

Specimen: Lower left anterior abdominal wall mass needle core biopsy.

Macroscopic: Two cores up to 16 mm.

Microscopic: The needle core biopsies show dense fibro-vascular tissue within which are foci of benign endometriosis. There is no evidence of cytological atypia or neoplasia.

Diagnosis: Lower left anterior abdominal wall mass needle core biopsy - benign endometriosis.

Biopsy provided scar endometriosis at the site of a Cesarean section scar.
