Presentation
Pelvic discomfort. The ultrasound (not shown) revealed a pelvic cystic mass.
Patient Data
Large well-defined left ovarian unilocular cyst (9 cm) with a homogeneous fluid content of a low signal on T1 and high signal on T2 with no restricted diffusion or enhancement on postcontrast sequences. No internal septation or solid component is seen.
Case Discussion
The MRI features of a unilocular ovarian cyst of homogeneous fluid content with no restricted diffusion, internal septation or solid component in a postmenopausal woman are highly suggestive of a serous inclusion cyst.
In such case (cyst >5 cm) the recommendation is follow-up either in 3-6 months for resolution/re-characterization or in 6-12 months for growth rate assessment.
