Presentation
Right medial knee/proximal-most leg region recurrent pain, swelling for the last few years. Pain - swelling appeared after few hours in standing position.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined, lobulated, anechoic - hypoechoic lesion involving popliteus muscle. There are tubular channels in the lesion. There are few tiny echogenic foci in the lesion - phleboliths. On compression, there is flow in few of the tubular channels in the lesion. There is no obvious lesion extension into the knee joint.
Case Discussion
A young male presented with a history of pain and swelling on the medial aspect of the knee after standing for a few hours. Ultrasound findings favor slow flow vascular malformation involving the popliteus muscle.
