There is a fracture of the proximal pole of the thumb MCPJ radial sesamoid.
Case Discussion
Two sesamoids are commonly found in the distal portion of the thumb metacarpal, located within the tendons of adductor pollicis and flexor pollicis brevis.
The fractures of sesamoid bones of the hand are rare, sometimes the diagnosis is missed. The mechanism of injury is a sudden hyperextension of the joint. Sometimes it can be the result of a direct trauma.
