Presentation
Twisted ankle. Deformed ankle.
Patient Data
Total dislocation of the talus. No fracture.
Restoration of the normal anatomical position post manipulation.
Osteochondral fracture of the anterior articulating surface of the talus.
Fracture of the lateral aspect of the navicular.
Right ankle joint articulation is preserved.
No other fracture in the right ankle or bones of the hindfoot or midfoot.
Case Discussion
The initial plain radiographs of the ankle dramatically illustrate a total talar dislocation.
The post manipulation outcome and the relatively paucity of osseous injury for the magnitude of the dislocation are remarkable.
