Patient Data
Anteverted and off midline curved to the right uterus. A few small interstitial uterine fibroids. The uterine endometrium, cervix and vagina are grossly unremarkable.
On the left side of the uterine body, a rudimentary horn with an endometrial cavity is seen and shows a few small sub-centimetric fibroids.
A few tiny right ovarian hemorrhagic cysts, likely endometriomas.
The patient has had a recent CT scan abdomen and pelvis, which shows no renal anomalies.
Findings are suggestive of Hemi-uterus with a rudimentary cavity, non-communicating. Classification: U4aV0
Case Discussion
Hemi-uterus is a Mullerian duct anomaly in which the uterus shows an abnormal configuration. It is typically small, curved, and located off-midline, often referred to as ‘banana shaped’.
40-70% of patients show renal anomalies. Mostly ipsilateral agenesis, multicystic dysplastic kidney disease (MCKD), ectopic position or renal fusion can occur.
