Slipped on black ice. Pain and difficulty to weight-bear on the right foot.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Oblique fracture of the distal fibula (at the level of syndesmosis). Normal appearance of the tibiotalar joint association.

Case Discussion

Weber B fracture. This case shows the importance of obtaining at least two views in musculoskeletal X-rays.

Note the fracture is clearly visible on the lateral view and is difficult to appreciate on the frontal view.
