Post Bentall procedure aortic leak with mediastinal hematoma

Acute chest pain, post-op. 2 weeks post-Bentall procedure.

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Male

The patient was highly unstable in the scanning room.

CT-scan shows a mediastinal hematoma near the root of the aorta, with active contrast extravasation, indicating a a break in the surgical material.

Case Discussion

The cardiac surgeon was immediately advised of the findings and the patient was rushed in the OR.
